Icons of the Game

The clubs that changed golf forever — and why they still matter today.

1900s – 1930s
The Hickory Shaft Era
Golf's earliest clubs were made entirely of wood — hickory shafts, persimmon heads, hand-forged iron blades. These clubs required a completely different swing and produced a feel that modern equipment simply cannot replicate. True originals from this era are exceptionally rare.
1940s – 1960s
The Golden Age of Blades
MacGregor, Ben Hogan, and Wilson dominated with hand-forged blade irons that demanded precision and rewarded skill. Sam Snead, Ben Hogan, and Byron Nelson played these clubs to records that still stand. A set from this era in good condition is a piece of golf history.
1970s
Persimmon's Last Stand
Jack Nicklaus won the 1986 Masters with a persimmon driver at age 46 — the last major won with wooden-headed clubs. The 1970s represent the absolute peak of persimmon craftsmanship before steel and titanium changed everything forever.
1980s
The Cavity Back Revolution
Ping's Karsten Solheim changed the game by moving weight to the perimeter of the clubhead. The Eye2, introduced in 1982, remains one of the most copied iron designs in history. Early cavity back irons from this decade are now highly collectible.
1990s
Titanium Takes Over
The Callaway Big Bertha (1991) introduced titanium drivers to the masses, launching the modern equipment era. Original Big Berthas, early TaylorMade Burners, and Titleist 962 irons from this decade are the collectibles of the next generation.
2000s – Present
Modern Legends
Limited editions, tour-only models, and signed equipment from the modern era. Tiger's Nike blades, Scotty Cameron prototype putters, and limited-run releases from major manufacturers continue to command premium prices among serious collectors.
The Stories Behind the Clubs

Every club has a swing behind it. Every bag has a course it's walked. The pieces in this collection carry both.

Why Persimmon Woods Are Making a Comeback
The feel of a perfectly-struck persimmon driver is something no modern titanium club can replicate. A growing community of golfers is discovering that playing hickory and persimmon teaches a swing discipline that transforms their modern game.
The Blade Irons That Defined a Generation
MacGregor MT irons. Hogan Apex. Wilson Staff. These hand-forged blades were played by the greatest golfers of the 20th century. Here's what to look for, what to avoid, and what they're truly worth on the collector's market today.

Your Questions, Answered

We believe in full transparency. Here is everything you need to know before placing an order on BSC Golf.

Why buy here instead of other websites?
BSC Golf is built exclusively for golf. Every seller is verified, every listing is reviewed, and every order is protected. You're not competing with electronics and handbags for attention — you're in a marketplace where every buyer and seller speaks the same language. We exist specifically for this.
How do I know the item looks like the photos?
Every seller on BSC Golf is required to photograph their equipment honestly — multiple angles, all wear areas visible. If the item arrives and doesn't match what was shown, our buyer protection covers you fully. You have the right to request a refund directly from the seller, and if it isn't resolved, we step in and make it right.
What if my order arrives damaged or not as described?
Submit a claim within 5 days of delivery. Our team reviews it personally and makes it right — either a full refund or a chance for the seller to make it right. If a return is required, the seller is responsible for covering return shipping. We handle the process from start to finish.
What's the refund policy?
If your item isn't as described, you're covered. Submit a claim, we review it, we resolve it. We don't hide behind fine print. If something is wrong, we fix it — that's the promise behind every order on this platform.
How does shipping work and is it insured?
Every seller ships with full tracking included. All orders are covered under BSC Golf buyer protection from the moment they leave the seller until they arrive at your door. If a package is lost in transit, you're not left chasing a carrier — we handle it.
How do I know the seller is legitimate?
Every seller on BSC Golf goes through a personal review process before they're approved to list. We don't let just anyone sell here. You're buying from verified sellers who have agreed to our standards — not anonymous strangers.
Are prices negotiable?
Sellers set their prices and some are open to conversation. Use the messaging feature on any listing to ask directly. Classics Collection items are seller's choice — if the seller enables offers on their listing, you can submit one. If not, the price is firm.
What makes something "Classics" worthy?
Every single piece in the Classics Collection is personally approved by our team. The criteria are strict — rarity, brand prestige, and historical significance. Most submissions don't make it in. That's exactly what makes the ones that do worth owning.
What if I have a question about an item before buying?
Every listing has a direct messaging button. Ask anything — condition details, measurements, history, shipping timeline. Sellers are expected to respond promptly and honestly.
How long does shipping take?
Shipping times vary by seller location but most orders ship within 1–3 business days of purchase. Full tracking is provided on every order so you always know exactly where your equipment is.
Is my payment information secure?
All payments are processed through Stripe — the same payment infrastructure used by Amazon, Google, and millions of businesses worldwide. Your card information never touches our servers.
What if the seller never ships my order?
Contact the seller directly first. If nothing is resolved, we follow up on your behalf. If the order still can't be fulfilled, you receive a full refund — including the original shipping cost, no questions asked. Sellers who fail to fulfill orders are always obligated to make the buyer whole and risk removal from the platform.
Have Something Worthy?

Every Classics listing is personally reviewed and approved by our team. If your equipment has the rarity, prestige, and price to qualify, we want to hear from you.
